Delightful weather accosted us the day of the meeting, finding 4 gays arriving drenched at Andreas’ flat. The next couple of weeks were planned with some success and some ideas for the semester to come were thrown out there.

Fresher’s Stall
We’re having a stall on clubs and socs day of freshers week which is Wednesday the 17th! It was agreed that we should have numerous posters advertising who we were, when the first meeting was, general gay information etc. It was also suggested that we make some leaflets to give to people when they sign up to the members list. There was also an idea of having pictures of previous events with the LGBT up at the stall – we will have to email people to ask their permission. There was also an idea to have a raffle for a box of lucky charms which Ash has generously donated. The winner will be announced on the Thursday.

1st meeting – Thursday 18th 8pm
It was decided that the first meeting should be a cocktail party – people can dress up if they wish. These theme parties can be a lot of fun if everyone participates J
The general rule is bring a bottle – it’s a good way to meet new and interesting people plus it breaks the ice if there’s a “theme” or something. The room will be decorated as well. We will also giving people a chance to suggest any ideas they have for events for the society to do.

2nd Meeting – Tuesday 23rd 8pm
For this meeting we are planning to have a heroes and villains quiz night. Various people will contribute different sections such as music and film (theme tunes maybe) but there wont be any more than 4 or 5 sections. Another good way to meet and talk to people in an informal setting. Plus! There will be prizes J Dressing up give you brownie points! (I will be)

Campaigns
Our lovely LGBT officer mark is planning on having a “coming out” campaign to start off the year. The idea at the moment is to have a stall in the atrium to raise awareness and to maybe give people the courage to come out themselves! There was also the suggestion to have a board with peoples own coming out stories for the public to read.

Committee Meetings
It was agreed that at the start of the semester these are going to be staggered but with good communication that shouldn’t matter until we all have our timetables and can make a proper date every week.

Ideas for activities

• Lazer Quest!!!
• Trips to Edinburgh and Glasgow
• Ice Skating
• Mondays – Pub Quiz (this is quite popular)
• Tuesday – Karaoke (esp popular with Andreas)
• Theme Nights (casino was suggested)
• Barbecues if there is decent weather. Can invite Glasgow and Edinburgers.
• Movies @ Macbob.
• Proper Pub crawl. (go into more than 3 lol) Then head to dusk or Fubar.

That’s pretty much all that was discussed amongst general frivolity.
